Genesis 26
A famine drove Isaac to Gerar, where the LORD appeared and confirmed the covenant promises made to Abraham. Isaac told the men of Gerar that Rebekah was his sister, but Abimelech discovered the deception; nonetheless Isaac prospered greatly and dug wells that the Philistines disputed. Abimelech sought a covenant of peace with Isaac at Beersheba, and Esau married Hittite wives who grieved his parents.
