Genesis 25

Abraham married Keturah and had six more sons, but gave all he owned to Isaac; Abraham died at 175 and was buried at Machpelah. Ishmael's twelve sons are listed, and Ishmael died at 137. Rebekah conceived twins — Esau and Jacob; Esau sold his birthright to Jacob for a bowl of lentil stew.

20And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padanaram, the sister to Laban the Syrian.Isaac was 40 years old when he took Rebekah to be his wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padanaram, the sister of Laban the Syrian.

23And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.The LORD said to her, 'Two nations are in Your womb, and two peoples from within You shall be divided; the one shall be stronger than the other, the older shall serve the younger.'

28And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.Isaac loved Esau because he ate of his game, but Rebekah loved Jacob.
29And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint:Once when Jacob was cooking stew, Esau came in from the field. He was exhausted.
30And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.Esau said to Jacob, 'Let me have some of that red stew, for I am exhausted.' Therefore his name was called Edom.
31And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright.Jacob said, 'Sell me your birthright first.'
32And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?Esau said, ' I am about to die; of what use is a birthright to me?'
33And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.Jacob said, 'Swear to me first.' So he swore to him and sold his birthright to Jacob.
34Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright.Then Jacob gave Esau bread and lentil stew. He ate and drank and rose and went his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright.
