2 Timothy 1

Paul writes to his beloved son Timothy, thanking God for Timothy's unfeigned faith and urging him not to be ashamed of the testimony of the Lord nor of Paul as His prisoner. He reminds Timothy that God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind, and charges him to hold fast the pattern of sound words.

7	For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.	For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
8	Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;	So do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, or of me His prisoner. 16	The Lord give mercy unto the house of Onesiphorus; for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain:	May the Lord show mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, for He often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains.
17	But, when he was in Rome, he sought me out very diligently, and found me.	When He was in Rome, He searched for me diligently and found me.
18	The Lord grant unto him that he may find mercy of the Lord in that day: and in how many things he ministered unto me at Ephesus, thou knowest very well.	May the Lord grant that He find mercy from the Lord on that day! And You know very well how many ways He ministered to me at Ephesus.
