Psalms 75

The people give thanks because God's name is near and His wondrous works declare it. God speaks, warning the arrogant not to lift up the horn, for promotion comes neither from the east nor the west -- it is God who judges, putting down one and setting up another. The wicked shall drink the dregs of His cup of wrath.

vKing James VersionModern English
1Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare. We praise You, God, we praise You, for Your Name is near; people tell of Your wonderful deeds.
2When I shall receive the congregation I will judge uprightly. You say, "I choose the appointed time; it is I who judge with equity.
3The earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved: I bear up the pillars of it. Selah. When the earth and all its people quake, it is I who hold its pillars firm.
4I said unto the fools, Deal not foolishly: and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn:To the arrogant I say, 'Boast no more,' and to the wicked, 'Do not lift up your horns.
5Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck.Do not lift your horns against heaven; do not speak so defiantly.' "
6For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. No one from the east or the west or from the desert can exalt themselves.
7But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another. It is God Who judges: He brings one down, He exalts another.
8For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them.In the hand of the LORD is a cup full of foaming wine mixed with spices; He pours it out. All the wicked of the earth drink it down to its very dregs.
9But I will declare for ever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob. As for me, I will declare this forever; I will sing praise to the God of Jacob,
10All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.who says, "I will cut off the horns of all the wicked, but the horns of the righteous will be lifted up."
