Psalms 33

The psalmist calls the righteous to praise the LORD with harp and new song. He celebrates God's word that made the heavens, His sovereignty that overrules the counsel of nations, and His watchful eye over those who fear Him and hope in His mercy.

10The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect.The LORD foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples.
11The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of His heart through all generations.

13The LORD looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men.From heaven the LORD looks down and sees all mankind;

15He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works.he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do.
16There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.No king is saved by the size of His army; no warrior escapes by His great strength.
17An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.A horse is a vain hope for deliverance; despite all its great strength it cannot save.
18Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear Him, on those whose hope is in His mercy,
19To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine.
20Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield.We wait in hope for the LORD; He is our help and our shield.
21For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.In Him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in His holy name.
