Psalms 30

The psalmist praises the LORD for lifting him from the depths and healing him. He testifies that God's anger lasts a moment but His favor lasts a lifetime: weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

vKing James VersionModern English
I will extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.I will exalt You, LORD, for You lifted me out of the depths and did not let my enemies gloat over me.
O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.LORD my God, I called to You for help, and You healed me.
O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.LORD, You have brought up my soul from the grave; You have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.
Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.Sing to the LORD, O You saints of His, and give thanks at the remembrance of His holiness.
For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. For His anger lasts only a moment. But His favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.
And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved. When I felt secure, I said, "I will never be shaken."
LORD, by thy favour thou hast made my mountain to stand strong: thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled.LORD, when You favored me, You made my royal mountain stand firm; but when You hid Your face, I was dismayed.
I cried to thee, O LORD; and unto the LORD I made supplication. To You, LORD, I called; to the Lord I cried for mercy:
What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth?"What is gained if I am silenced, if I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise You? Will it proclaim Your faithfulness?
Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be thou my helper.Hear, LORD, and be merciful to me; LORD, be my help."
Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; You turned my wailing into dancing; You removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.that my heart may sing Your praises and not be silent. LORD my God, I will praise You forever.
