Psalms 125

The psalmist declares that those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever, surrounded by the LORD as the mountains surround Jerusalem. He prays for peace on Israel and affirms that the scepter of the wicked will not rest on the land allotted to the righteous.

vKing James VersionModern English
1They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever. Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever.
2As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about his people from henceforth even for ever.As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds His people both now and forevermore.
3For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity. The scepter of the wicked will not remain over the land allotted to the righteous, for then the righteous might use their hands to do evil.
4Do good, O LORD, unto those that be good, and to them that are upright in their hearts.LORD, do good to those who are good, to those who are upright in heart.
5As for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, the LORD shall lead them forth with the workers of iniquity: but peace shall be upon Israel. But those who turn to crooked ways the LORD will banish with the evildoers. Peace be on Israel.
