Psalms 1
The psalmist celebrates the man who delights in the law of the LORD. The righteous are like a tree planted by streams of water; the ungodly are like chaff driven away by the wind.

| 1 | Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. | Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, or stand in the way of sinners, or sit in the seat of mockers. |
| 2 | But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. | But His delight is in the law of the LORD, and on His law He meditates day and night. |
| 3 | And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. | He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither — whatever He does prospers. |
| 4 | The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. | Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. |
| 5 | Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. | Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. |
| 6 | For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish. | For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction. |
