Matthew 28

An angel rolls away the stone from the tomb and announces to Mary Magdalene and the other Mary that Jesus has risen from the dead. The risen Jesus appears to the women and later to the eleven disciples in Galilee, where He commissions them to go and make disciples of all nations.

1In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.

7And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.Then go quickly and tell His disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of You into Galilee. There You will see Him.' Now I have told You."
8And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell His disciples.
9And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.Suddenly Jesus met them. "Greetings," He said. They came to Him, clasped His feet, and worshiped Him.
10Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go and tell My brothers to go to Galilee. There they will see Me."
11Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done.While the women were on their way, some of the guards went into the city and reported to the chief priests everything that had happened.
12And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers,When the chief priests met with the elders and made a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money
13Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept.and told them, "You are to say, 'His disciples came during the night and stole Him away while we were asleep.'
14And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you.If this report reaches the governor, we will satisfy Him and keep You out of trouble."
15So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.So the soldiers took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story has been widely spread among the Jews to this day.
16Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go.
