Matthew 28

An angel rolls away the stone from the tomb and announces to Mary Magdalene and the other Mary that Jesus has risen from the dead. The risen Jesus appears to the women and later to the eleven disciples in Galilee, where He commissions them to go and make disciples of all nations.

1	In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.	After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.
2	And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.	There was a great earthquake. An angel of the Lord came down from heaven, rolled back the stone, and sat on it.
3	His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:	His face was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow.

Then go quickly and tell His disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of You into Galilee. There You will see Him.' Now I have told You."
8	And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.	So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell His disciples.
9	And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.	Suddenly Jesus met them. "Greetings," He said. They came to Him, clasped His feet, and worshiped Him.
10	Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.	Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go and tell My brothers to go to Galilee. There they will see Me."
11	Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done.	While the women were on their way, some of the guards went into the city and reported to the chief priests everything that had happened.
12	And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers,	When the chief priests met with the elders and made a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money
13	Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept.	and told them, "You are to say, 'His disciples came during the night and stole Him away while we were asleep.'
14	And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you.	If this report reaches the governor, we will satisfy Him and keep You out of trouble."
15	So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.	So the soldiers took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story has been widely spread among the Jews to this day.
16	Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.	Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go.
17	And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.	When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted.
