Matthew 11

John the Baptist, imprisoned, sends messengers to ask Jesus if He is the promised Messiah, and Jesus points to His miracles as evidence. Jesus rebukes the cities of Chorazin, Bethsaida, and Capernaum for their unbelief and invites the weary and heavy-laden to come to Him for rest.

8But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses. What then did You go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? Those who wear fine clothes are in kings' houses.

17And saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented.'We played the flute for You and You did not dance. We sang a lament and You did not mourn.'
18For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil. For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, 'He has a demon.'

Yet wisdom is proved right by her deeds."

21Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes."Woe to You, Chorazin! Woe to You, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works done in You had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
22But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.But I tell You, it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for You.
23And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.And You, Capernaum — will You be lifted up to heaven? No, You will go down to hell. For if the mighty works done in You had been done in Sodom, it would have remained to this day.

27All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.All things have been handed over to Me by My Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son — and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.
28Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.Come to Me, all You who are weary and burdened, and I will give You rest.
29Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.Take My yoke on You and learn from Me, for I am meek and lowly in heart. You will find rest for Your souls.
30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."
