John 17

Jesus prays to the Father, asking Him to glorify the Son so that the Son may glorify the Father. He prays for His disciples, asking the Father to keep them from the evil one and to sanctify them through the truth. He prays for all who will believe through their word, that they may be one as He and the Father are one.

vKing James VersionModern English
These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:When Jesus had said these things, He lifted up His eyes to heaven and said, "Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son so that the Son may glorify You,
As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.just as You have given Him authority over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom You have given Him.
And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. And this is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.I have glorified You on earth. I have finished the work You gave Me to do.
And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. Now, Father, glorify Me in Your own presence with the glory I had with You before the world existed.
I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.I have made Your name known to the people you gave Me out of the world. They were Yours, and You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word.
Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee. Now they know that everything You have given Me is from You.
For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.I have given them the words You gave Me, and they have received them. They know truly that I came from You, and they have believed that You sent Me.
I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.I am praying for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those You have given Me, for they are Yours.
And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them. All that is Mine is Yours, and what is Yours is Mine, and I am glorified in them.
And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to You. Holy Father, keep them in Your name — the name You have given Me — so that they may be one, just as We are one.
While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled. While I was with them, I kept them in Your name. I protected those You gave Me, and none of them has been lost except the son of perdition, so that the Scripture might be fulfilled.
And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves. Now I am coming to You. I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have My joy made complete in themselves.
I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.I have given them Your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.
I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.I am not asking You to take them out of the world, but to keep them from the evil one.
They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.Sanctify them in Your truth — Your word is truth.
As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.
And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. For their sake I sanctify Myself, so that they also may be sanctified in truth.
Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word,
That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.that they all may be one. Just as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, may they also be one in Us, so that the world may believe that You have sent Me.
And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:The glory You have given Me I have given to them, so that they may be one, just as We are one —
I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.I in them, and You in Me — so that they may be perfected into one. Then the world will know that You sent Me and that You have loved them just as You have loved Me.
Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.Father, I desire that those You have given Me may also be with Me where I am, to see My glory, which You have given Me because You loved Me before the foundation of the world.
O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.Righteous Father, the world has not known You, but I have known You. These people know that You have sent Me.
And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.I have made Your name known to them, and I will continue to make it known, so that the love You have for Me may be in them, and I in them."
