Genesis 28
Isaac blessed Jacob and sent him to Padanaram to take a wife from Laban's daughters; Esau, seeing this, married a daughter of Ishmael. On the way, Jacob slept at a certain place and dreamed of a ladder reaching to heaven with angels ascending and descending; the LORD stood above it and renewed the covenant promises. Jacob named the place Bethel and vowed that the LORD would be his God.
