Galatians 1

Paul marvels that the Galatians are so quickly turning to a different gospel and pronounces a curse on anyone who preaches another gospel than what they received. He defends his apostleship, declaring that the gospel he preaches came not from man but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

6	I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:	I marvel that You are so soon removed from Him who called You into the grace of Christ to another gospel—
7	Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.	which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing You into confusion and are trying to distort the gospel of Christ.
8	But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.	But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to You, let Him be eternally condemned!
9	As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.	As we have already said, so now I say again: if anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what You received, let Him be eternally condemned!
10	For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.	Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.
11	But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.	I want You to know, brothers, that the gospel I preached is not of human origin.
12	For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.	I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by a revelation from Jesus Christ.
13	For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:	For You have heard of my former way of life in Judaism — how intensely I persecuted the church of God and tried to destroy it.
14	And profited in the Jews' religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.	I was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my own age among my people and was extremely zealous for the traditions of my fathers.
15	But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace,	But when God, Who set me apart from birth and called me by His grace, was pleased
16	To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:	to reveal His Son in me so that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, my immediate response was not to consult any human being.
17	Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.	I did not go up to Jerusalem to see those who were apostles before me, but I went into Arabia and later returned to Damascus.
18	Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days.	Then after three years, I went up to Jerusalem to visit Cephas and stayed with Him fifteen days.
19	But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother.	I saw none of the other apostles — only James, the Lord's brother.
20	Now the things which I write unto you, behold, before God, I lie not.	I assure You before God that what I am writing You is no lie.
21	Afterwards I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia;	Then I went to Syria and Cilicia.
22	And was unknown by face unto the churches of Judaea which were in Christ:	I was personally unknown to the churches of Judea that are in Christ.
23	But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed.	They only heard the report: "The man who formerly persecuted us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy."
24	And they glorified God in me.	And they praised God because of me.
